At Holy Cross we are committed to proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom of God (Matthew 24:14), teaching the faith which was once delivered in the first century (Jude 3), and preparing a people for the coming of the Lord (Hebrews 10:23-25).

 

Holy Cross parish (“parish” is simply an old English term for a local congregation) is an orthodox Christian community. You won’t find anything new here. No liberal theology,... no evolving morality,… and no trendy worship. What you will find is a faithful, friendly and welcoming Christian community worshipping God in spirit and in truth (John 4:23).

 

The Gospel was brought to the British Isles by Jospeh of Arimathea in the year 37 CE. We are part of the ancient Celtic and English spiritual tradition, and we highly value the Jewish roots of our faith. Our roots run very deep indeed — to first century Jerusalem and before, all the way back to the calling of our Father Abraham.

 

The word orthodox means both correct doctrine and correct worship.  Justin Martyr in his Dialogue with Trypho (c. 160 CE) writes, “I and every other completely orthodox Christian feel certain that there will be a resurrection of the flesh, followed by a thousand years in the rebuilt, embellished, and enlarged city of Jerusalem, as was announced by the prophets Ezekiel, Isaiah, and others.” 

 

We are a Scripture-believing congregation, seeking to live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Our liturgy is from the historic Book of Common Prayer which is rooted in the synagogue worship of the first century and before.

 

At Holy Cross our outreach goes far beyond our four walls. Our pastor has an internationally read blog, our congregation has an active social media presence, and we produce a popular radio broadcast called The Faith Once Delivered.

 

The Faith Once Delivered is a Bible School of the air for thinking Christians. We teach the Holy Scriptures within their first century cultural and historical context. Each broadcast is an in-depth Bible study. We let the Scriptures speak for themselves rather than reading them through the lens of human tradition. A lot of important information is packed into every 30 minute broadcast. These broadcasts are solid spiritual food, not milk. 

 

The Faith Once Delivered is aired twice weekly on AM and FM radio, and worldwide via the Internet. The Faith Once Delivered is heard on Saturday morning at 9:30 AM (Central Time), with each broadcast repeated on Sunday evening at 9:30 PM (Central Time) on KCRO Radio 660 AM in Omaha and 106.7 FM in Lincoln.

 

The Faith Once Delivered can be heard throughout Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa on these two radio stations or all across the United States and worldwide over the Internet. Just go to the KCRO Radio website  and click Listen Live:

At Holy Cross we are a real community and enjoy many fun activities together, including fellowship and refreshments after worship, monthly potluck luncheons, a Summer Picnic, a Fall Hayrack Ride, Bonfire and Potluck, and so much more.

Holy Cross Orthodox Church is located at 7545 Main Street in the Ralston suburb of Omaha, Nebraska. We have a spacious sanctuary and an attractive fellowship  hall, as well as classroom and office space, along with a large parking lot which includes covered parking. Everything is on one level so there are no stairs to climb.

 

We are close to the 72nd Street exit from Interstate 80 (I-80), and easy to reach from anywhere in Omaha or the surrounding  communities. We are just three blocks west of 72nd and Main Street in Ralston. Our congregation is located in an attractive commercial building called Hillcrest Landing, with the entrance under the covered parking. Just look for our signs. You can’t miss us!
